The hike to Skageflaa:

A STEEP AND HARD TRIP, BUT AT THE SAME TIME SHORT AND MANAGEABLE FOR MOST PEOPLE

Take the historic and spectacular mountain hike to the abandoned mountain farm Skageflå. Enjoy the fantastic view and feel the unique history from the old days while people still lived here.

The hike goes along the steep and historic path up to the farm located 250 meters above the Fjord. It is a challenging walk along a narrow path, but the most exposed places are secured. The fjord disappears slowly but surely beneath you as you approach the farm. After approx. 45 minutes you arrive and you can enjoy the fantastic view over the fjord, towards the waterfalls Seven Sisters and the fjord farm Knivsflaa on the other side.

At Skageflaa you can relax with brought food and drinks before moving on. You then have two choices: Either you can go back to the Fjord where we pick you up by boat and take you back to Geiranger. Alternatively, you can continue on foot further up the mountain and walk all the way back towards Homlong (2.4 km). From there you walk along the fjord approx. 30 minutes back to Geiranger.

LENGTH AND DURATION
The hike from Skagehola to Skageflå takes approx. 45 minutes up and 30 minutes down at a leisurely pace. The whole trip from Skagehola, via Skageflaa and Homlongsætra, down to Homlong and back to Gieranger is 6.5 km and takes 3-4 hours depending on speed and stops along the way.

The mountain hike itself is demanding, but most people with normal physical shape and some experience of walking in the mountains will manage the hike. Although the trip is steep to begin with, it goes very gently and nicely down towards Homlong when you have reached the top.

We recommend bringing a change of clothes, good shoes, food / drink and toilet paper.
There are no place to buy food/drinks etc. on the tour.
